Mission Nature sunscreen is a physical protection (or organic) that sits on the surface of the skin and reflects the sun’s rays as opposed to chemical sunscreen that is absorbed into the skin. Some people have therefore mistakenly assumed that they had reacted to the sun’s rays, but it was a reaction to their chemical sunscreen. Moreover, a lot of these sunscreens are very environmentally damaging.

The new high-quality solar protection Mission Nature: 7 important things to know.

Physical sunscreen 100% natural

Mission Nature sunscreen is a physical protection (or organic) that sits on the surface of the skin and reflects the sun’s rays as opposed to chemical sunscreen that is absorbed into the skin. Some people have therefore mistakenly assumed that they had reacted to the sun’s rays, but it was a reaction to their chemical sunscreen. Moreover, a lot of these sunscreens are very environmentally damaging.

High Protection with SPF 30+

An SPF 30 is an excellent choice and is sufficient for a sunscreen. Our sunscreen is labelled 30+ because the results obtained by an independent certified laboratory were higher than a SPF of 30. What is FPS or SPF? The protector rating is the SPF (Sun Protection Factor). It mainly measures the solar protection duration after application. We multiply the SPF by 10 minutes, which amounts to 300 minutes (5 hours) for a SPF 30. Your dermatologist recommended you a SPF 75? Tell him that none of the products with a higher SPF than 50 will be on the market with the new FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations. An SPF 75 will not offer better protection for your child. A lot of consumers mistakenly believed that a SPF 50 was twice more protector than a SPF 25. Duration is the only significant factor. In the marketing madness of solar products, some manufacturers take advantage of the disturbance and offer SPF 90 or even SPF 100.

Approved by Health Canada

To be sold in Canada, all solar products need to have a NPN or DIN number attributed by Health Canada. Our sunscreen displays a NPN (Natural Product Number) because it does not include chemical filters, which are labelled with a DIN number. Notice that Health Canada refers to the FDA regulations (USA) for solar protections being sold in Canada.

No rewarding and superfluous mentions

Many rewarding mentions are contested among other things because in certain cases, it provides a false sense of security to consumers. Only mentions allowed by Canada Health are used for our sunscreen and our organic ingredients are verified by an independent certified organism: Quebec Vrai.

  • Resistant to water: “Resistant to water” or “waterproof” mentions will not be allowed anymore. Manufacturers will simply have to specify the duration of protection, which will be only 40 or 80 minutes. The standard tests include the capacity of the sunscreen to protect the skin in water but also in presence of sweat. With these short application times, we must be careful and proceed to more than one application throughout aquatic games, no matter what is mentioned on the bottle.
  • Approved by professional associations:    Many products are recognized or approved by different professional associations. In many cases, manufacturers must only pay a sum of money and respect some conditions set by the association. Many products with this mention have not been tested.
  • Hypoallergenic: All sunscreens, physicals, or chemicals, even with a hypoallergenic mention, should always be tested on the skin before the first application. In most cases, you will obtain the answer by applying a small quantity of sunscreen on an arm or a calf and by observing the skin after a few hours. Look at the zone in question after 48 hours to confirm the result.
